Dubai: As the Dubai Air Show took off on Sunday morning, a familiar rivalry quickly came to boil: Franco-German Airbus and Seattle-based Boeing have history at this trade show, and it’s mostly been competitive and tense.

Following a soft start with Emirates scheduling a crack-of-dawn press conference to announce a new first class cabin, the press corps was quickly reconvened for an unannounced press briefing just an hour later.

There was much uncertainty in the room; whispers between Boeing and Airbus executives of “who would go first,” aircraft models smuggled in under table cloths, and plenty of preying press who were all too willing to oblige the mystery.

Listen to today’s episode of Dirhams & Dollars to find out what happened when Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, walked in to the room, and hear who got the $15 billion pie that these two titans of aviation were fighting over.
