Prices of essential items swing both ways
The latest consumer price basket released by the Ministry of Economy (MoE) revealed mixed changes in prices of essential goods, giving consumers more choice on their grocery purchases.
Dubai: The latest consumer price basket released by the Ministry of Economy (MoE) revealed mixed changes in prices of essential goods, giving consumers more choice on their grocery purchases.

According to the MoE figures, some prices increased and some decreased while others remained the same when compared to the previous week's index.
The prices for UAE's locally packed white sugar remained the same at Dh2.90 per two kilograms at LuLu Centre, Dh4.35 at Carrefour Dubai and Dh3.50 at Union Cooperative Society.
Meanwhile, prices for UAE's big size white bread went down 20 fils per bag from Dh1.40 to Dh1.20 at LuLu Centre, up 65 fils per bag from Dh1.20 to 1.95 at Carrefour and up 5 fils per bag from Dh2.20 to 2.25 at Union Cooperative Society. The figures for basic commodities at other stores covered by the ministry's weekly survey were not available. The ministry collated the prices last Monday and covered around 42 commodities.
