Foreigners buy shares worth Dh2.2b

Dubai: In a volatile scenario that witnessed more than Dh100 being wiped off the UAE's market capitalisation, the Dubai Financial Market on Saturday said.
The value of shares bought by foreign investors, or non-UAE nationals, last week (October 5-9) reached Dh2.215 billion, or 41.2 per cent of the total value of stocks traded in the week.
The value of stocks sold by foreign investors during the same period reached Dh2.78 billion, comprising 51.8 per cent of the total value of stocks traded last week.
Net foreign investment in the market reached Dh571.6 million during the same period.
The value of stocks bought by institutional investors during last week reached Dh1.54 billion, comprising 28.7 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the period.
The value of stocks sold by institutional investors during the period reached Dh2.195 billion, which constituted 40.8 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the period.
Net institutional investment on the market reached Dh652.8 million during the period.
