Dubai stock market makes biggest one-day gains in months

Dubai: Dubai bourse surged to end 7.76 per cent higher, its biggest one-day gain since November 17, led by Emaar Properties, which jumped 14.6 per cent, and Dubai Islamic Bank, which went up 14.46 per cent.

The index ended at 1,763 points.

Abu Dhabi's index is up 5.49 per cent at 2,521 points, which will close later because trading has been extended 40 minutes due to a technical glitch..

In other parts of the Gulf, Qatar ended lower on profit-taking after six days of higher closes.

Zain weighed on the Kuwait index while Bahrain rose, snapping a six-day losing streak.

Commercial Bank of Qatar ended 7.55 per cent lower and Industries Qatar fell 5.12 per cent as the country's index dropped 3.76 per cent to 6,675 points.

Kuwait's index ended 1.74 per cent lower at 7,477 points led by Zain, which fell 6.33 per cent.

Bahrain ended 0.05 per cent higher at 1,792 points.

Oman's bourse closed lower weighed down by losses in banking shares after rising for three trading days.

Muscat's benchmark ended down 0.83 per cent at 5,660 points as Bank Muscat fell 3.91 per cent and National Bank of Oman 6.49 per cent.

Oman closed almost 5 per cent higher on Sunday.
