Dubai: City Cool, a leading district cooling provider and a subsidiary of Al Rajhi Investment Group, has signed an Dh630 million agreement with Emaar The Economic City (Emaar E.C.) to provide state-of-the-art district cooling infrastructure for the prestigious Bay La Sun development in Saudi Arabia.
The Bay La Sun development, the first integrated village within the King Abdullah Economic City, will be supplied with 67,000 tonnes of refrigeration, with future expansion up to 80,000 tonnes, from two district cooling plants.
The work also involves setting up two thermal storage tanks, a 15,000 cubic metres per day desalination plant, and laying around 20 km of pre-insulated steel or high density polyethylene piping network and building 25 energy transfer stations within the development.
Fahad Bin Abdul Al Mosen Al Rashid, chief executive, Emaar The Econ-omic City, said, "City Cool was the obvious choice given their creditable track record.
"This agreement ensures the efficient use of energy at Bay La Sun, translating into improved air quality, increased cooling capacity and cost savings for residents as a result of lower electricity consumption and reduced maintenance."
