Dubai: Shine System, a Korean manufacturing company, yesterday signed a joint venture with APP Middle East and Diamond Valley General Contracting (DVGC).
The venture is intended to bring an eco-friendly product, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) window profiles, also known as vinyl windows, to the UAE market, officials told Gulf News.
"It is a 50-50 venture of $4 million," said Prema Pillai, managing director of APP Middle East, an electrical contracting and general maintenance company.
The investment for the venture between the Korean company and DVGC was not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Shine will supply the green product.
"The construction market needs new products because it is growing fast. Korean PVC windows will be much cheaper," Pillai said.
As APP enters the market, it plans to expand its business in the region by setting up a fabrication plant.
"We understand the potential of the market here and its growth. As demand increases we're definitely looking into situating a plant in the Middle East, with our partners," Jin-Oh Kim, president and chief executive of Shine System, a subsidiary of A-cheon Group, told Gulf News.
