Sharjah Customs signs MoU with brand owners' group
The Sharjah Customs and Brand Owners Protection Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as part of joint efforts to combat counterfeits, illicit trade and to protect intellectual property rights.
Sharjah: The Sharjah Customs and Brand Owners Protection Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as part of joint efforts to combat counterfeits, illicit trade and to protect intellectual property rights.
The MoU was signed by Shaikh Khalid Bin Abdullah Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports and Customs Authority, and Omar Shteiwi, Regional Intellectual Property Adviser for Nestle Middle East and Chairman of the BPG, representing the group's members.
The MoU entails providing technical support and training to officials and units at Sharjah Customs for the protection of intellectual property rights owned by the members of the Brand Owners Protection Group.
Sharjah Customs will cooperate with BPG to eliminate counterfeit products that challenge the local economy.
