OMV board gets UAE member
Elyazi Al Kuwaiti became the first Emirati woman to be appointed a member of the supervisory board of OMV AG and its general assembly.
Abu Dhabi: Elyazi Al Kuwaiti became the first Emirati woman to be appointed a member of the supervisory board of OMV AG and its general assembly.
Elyazi is a manager of evaluation and implementation of the Investment Department in the Abu Dhabi Government's International Petroleum Investment Company (Ipic). She has been nominated to represent the company as vice-chairman of the supervisory board of OMV in Vienna.
OMV, the Vienna-based group in which Ipic has a 17.6 per cent stake, is the largest oil and gas company in Central Europe, where annual sales reached 20 billion euros in 2007 and the number of employees is 33,000.
Khadim Al Qubasi, the managing director of the company, said: "For the first time a woman is appointed in this position. It's a massage to the world about the role of Emirati women in economic developments"
Elyazi said: "It's a challenging job because it is at the international level, but I'm up to it."
