Abu Dhabi: Mubadala Development Company announced on Tuesday the launch of Bayanat LLC, an Abu Dhabi-based company for mapping and surveying services.

Bayanat, which has evolved out of the Military Survey Department and will continue to serve the UAE Armed Forces as its main client, has extended its services to cover institutions of the public sector, private companies as well as military organisations in the GCC region.

"By enabling these services to be offered to the public and private sector, a wider group of organisations in the UAE can benefit from the vast wealth of data available," a Bayanat spokesperson told Gulf News.

Important client

"We also believe that by launching Bayanat as a commercial company we will improve service levels, efficiency and delivery for the UAE Armed Forces, which remains our most important client."

The company will provide end-to-end and customised geospatial data products and services such as land surveys, aerial photography, map production, nautical charts and geographic information system analysis.

"I am delighted to build upon MSD's strong heritage and well-established track record with this newly formed commercial entity," said Rashid Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Board of Bayanat, in a statement sent by Mubadala.

"We have a clear vision to be the national leader in mapping, surveying and innovative geospatial information services. We look forward to leveraging the latest technology and the expertise of our team to provide our clients with the most comprehensive geospatial solutions in the market.

"Against a backdrop of rapid development in the UAE, Bayanat's offering will enable businesses take advantage of the latest customised geospatial data to facilitate strategic planning, day-to-day business activities and the development of new and innovative services across a range of industry sectors," said Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Chief Operating Officer of Mubadala, in the statement. Bayanat plans to invest about Dh50 million in critical IT infrastructure.
