Mohammad ends visit on high note
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday ended a four-day official visit to China.

Shaikh Mohammad was accorded an official reception according to Chinese protocol by the Chinese premier, which included the national anthems of the UAE and China and the inspection of the guard of honour.

Beijing: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday ended a four-day official visit to China.
During the highly successful visit, Shaikh Mohammad held talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice-President Xi Jinping and other senior officials.
He also visited the Great Wall of China and attended a business conference in Shanghai, where a number of UAE organisations signed important memoranda of understanding with their counterparts.
Shaikh Mohammad and the Chinese premier attended the signing of a number of bilateral agreements. They included an agreement signed by Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Chinese counterpart on security cooperation.
Education
Another agreement was signed by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, with the Chinese Minister of Higher Education on cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
An MoU was also signed on cooperation in health quarantine between the UAE Ministry of Health and the Chinese Department of Quality Control and Health Quarantine.
Earlier, Premier Wen welcomed Shaikh Mohammad, describing him as a familiar figure with whom he had a memorable audience during the World Economic Forum in China last year. Wen expressed his wishes for the success of Shaikh Mohammad's visit, noting it would help cement bilateral cooperation.
The UAE leader expressed his country's keenness to bolster trade cooperation with China, adding that the Asian country was now the largest trade partner for the UAE.
The UAE's trade with China has recorded 40 per cent growth in recent years.
After the talks, Shaikh Mohammad and Wen attended the signing of a number of bilateral agreements. One was signed by Shaikh Abdullah and his Chinese counterpart on mutual legal assistance on criminal issues.
Vice-President Xi Jinping later expressed confidence that the prime minister's visit would add fresh momentum to the historic relations the two countries maintain.
Shaikh Mohammad said his visit would promote economic, trade, technological, tourism and cultural cooperation and relations.
The meeting took place at The Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital.
Present at the meeting were Dubai Deputy Ruler Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Abdullah, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, Al Gergawi and Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimi, the Minister of State.
