Majid honours young entrepreneurs

Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture, honoured on Tuesday winners of the fifth Young Entrepreneur Competition (YEC), organised by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders (MBRE).

Dubai: Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture, honoured on Tuesday winners of the fifth Young Entrepreneur Competition (YEC), organised by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders (MBRE).

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the MBRE's Board of Directors.

The top five winners from schools and Universities across the UAE were honoured with certificates and trophies, as well as Dh250,000 cash award as instructed by Shaikh Majid.

The categories include; Best Marketing, Best Technology, Best Team-work, Best Profitable Business, Best Cultural, Best Product Design, Best Kiosk, Best UAE National Team, Best Unique Business, Best Handmade Product, Best Artistic Projects, Best Environmental Awareness.

The competition's activities started on April 1 and continued for four days at Dubai Mall, with the purpose of creating a competitive environment between students in the world of business and giving them a real opportunity to run their own business.

The competition also aims to encourage students to set up their own businesses in the future, cultivate the spirit of investment initiative in the minds of the future generation and introduce them to the basics of business management.

Promises of a bright future

Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture, yesterday also honoured winners of 12 categories of projects.

Best Marketing: Skeek Awwal by Mouza Hassan and Khadija Mohammad Al Linjawi from Amina Bint Wahab School.

Best Technology: The Smallest Gallery project by Majid Salem Al Kitbi, Abdullah Ali and Rashid Abdullah Sahlawi from Al Mawakeb Private School.

Best Team Work: Pretty Girls Project by Hajar Khodr Al Mansouri, Shaikha Khamis Mohammad, Hayat Mohammad Ahmad Hammoud Al Shehi and Turkiyya Abdullah Ali Al Shehi from Jelfar High Schools.

Best Profitable Business: Bateet PaintBall project by Abdul Hamid Sadiq Al Maarafi, Mohammad Abdullah Al Mazroui, Badr Ali Al Janahi, Mohammad Rashid Al Shamesi, Ahmad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Suhail Ali Bilhabalah and Obaid Mohammad Al Budour from Ettihad Private School.

Best Cultural: Learn with Abdullah and Shaikha by Mariam Hassan Al Khayyat and Safiah Mohammad Al Hammadi from Mariah Al Qubtiah Secondary School.

Best Product Design: DT Innovation project by Hashem Hassan, Ali Osama, Ali Hadraj and Sishan Kan Kanamji from Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School.

Best Kiosk: Under Construction by Saeed Humaid Bin Hazeem, Ebrahim Mohammad Ganem and Saeed Juma Al Mutairi from Al Shurouq Private School.

Best UAE National Team: Our Team Stands at the Top by Mariam Sabt Al Daheri, Aisha Sabt Al Daheri, Faiza Sha'er Al Hattawi, Mouza Khalfan Hamdan and Shamma Hassan Al Hattawi from Al Dhahra Secondary School for Girls.

Best Unique Business: Noor R'oya Alghad project by Shaima Yousuf Al Tannak, Haifa Sultan Al Ali, Houriah Ahmad Al Jesmi and Fatima Hassan Al Buloushi from Mariah Al Qubtiah Secondary School.

Best Handmade Product: Al Bal by Aisha Al Mansouri, Buthaina Al Eilai, Noura Al Gandi and Maitha Al Hashemi from Ettihad Private School.

Best Artistic Projects: shared by two winners:

Jinx by Sarah Al Mutawaa and Amina Yaghi from Al Mazhar American Academy for Girls.

Fusion by Rabila Jidawi, Shahrish Muneer Shaikha and Maida Khalid from Westminster School.

Best Environmental Awareness: Newzy project by Hamda Khalid Al Shirawi, Sharifa Abdul Hamid Al Sunaid, Marwa Mahmoud Zainal and Abdullah Abdul Hamid Al Sunaid from Al Mawakeb Private School, Al Barsha.

Top five winners
