G7 leaders are getting husky

Finance bosses take time out to go on a dog-sled adventure

Iqaluit: Is the G7 going to the dogs? It sure looked that way in the Arctic town of Iqaluit on Friday as packs of huskies took some of the world's top finance chiefs for a ride.

In an excursion organised by G7 host Canada, Bank of England Governor Mervyn King and Italian finance minister Giulio Tremonti were among those taking dog-sled rides across the frozen sea under the watchful eye of security guards on snowmobiles.

Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said more of his colleagues signed up for the dog-sled adventure than he had expected and that "they were thrilled".

Finance ministers and central bank chiefs from the Group of Seven were meeting to discuss the global economy at a time when the G7 itself is being supplanted by a more inclusive multinational group.
