Federal Customs Authority sets up two departments
The Federal Customs Authority (FCA) yesterday announced the establishment of two new departments required for the implementation of the federal strategic development plan.
Abu Dhabi: The Federal Customs Authority (FCA) yesterday announced the establishment of two new departments required for the implementation of the federal strategic development plan.
The administrative Bill number 49 for 2008 stipulates the establishment of a strategic planning unit and a performance monitoring unit attached to the director-general's office.
"Such response reflects the flexibility of the authority's administrative structure, which enables us to react promptly to the rapid changes in the field of customs and duties," Mohammad Khalifa Bin Fahd Al Muhairi, FCA's director-general, said.
"The establishment of the new units aims at enhancing the quality of our services to individuals and institutions, as well as providing the necessary support for cooperation with other government entities, especially the Cabinet," he said and added that the relative weight of the authority has increased substantially within the context of the federal strategic development plan.
The strategic planning unit, headed by Nouf Ahmed Al Suwaidi, is assigned to draft FCA's strategic development plan, and the periodic monitoring of implementation.
Strategic planning
"Some of the most important tasks assigned to this unit include carrying out an internal and external survey, measuring and monitoring personnel's needs and expectations, providing SWOT analysis, and observing the elements affecting the authority's performance," Al Muhairi said.
The department will set the various operational plans for the different departments and sections of the FCA in coordination with the Bureau of the Prime Minister to ensure the highest of standards in implementing the strategic plan.
The tasks of the performance monitoring unit, headed by Huda Humaid Balhoul, include monitoring the strategic and performance outcomes, as well as the implementation of the performance reports' recommendations, and carrying out referenced comparisons to assess the performance in coordination with the Bureau of the Prime Minister.
"We have also established a new committee headed by Ahmed Mohammad Al Bakr, the director of FCA's legal affairs, for investigating administrative violations in accordance with the civil service Bill," Al Muhairi said.
The investigative committee's meetings will be confidential, and its decisions will be taken according to the principle of absolute majority.
The other members are the heads of the human resources, financial affairs, and customs affairs.
