Dubai: The four-day "Eid in Dubai" celebrations, organised by the Dubai Shopping Festival, concluded on Friday after enhancing Dubai's position as a leader in the global festival industry, organisers said.
According to officials, the shows during the event marking Eid Al Fitr drew full-capacity attendance by all nationalities.
"The positive response to the inaugural edition of 'Eid in Dubai' reflects the ability of Dubai to host international and premium events successfully and reiterates its position as a leader in the global festival industry," said Laila Suhail, CEO of DSF.
"'Eid in Dubai' brought together people of all nationalities and religions for a momentous celebration and over the coming years the event will encompass the whole of Dubai.
"This vibrant city is one step closer to attracting 15 million visitors by the year 2015 and the DSF Office will continue to contribute to this aim through its innovative endeavours," Suhail added.
Yousuf Mubarak, DSF chief operations officer, admitted they encountered numerous challenges during the event because they had very little time to organise it.
"Nevertheless, we had a concrete logistical plan that ensured all elements of the event were looked into," Mubarak said.
'Eid in Dubai' presented some highlights that attracted sellout crowds during the four-day event.
One of the most popular shows was 'The Return of the Phoenix', a play by the renowned Rahbani family.
The opening show was attended by Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
