Dubai Maritime City Authority unveils new identity
Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), responsible for all maritime related business registration and licensing in Dubai, recently unveiled its new identity Raseina.
Dubai: Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), responsible for all maritime related business registration and licensing in Dubai, recently unveiled its new identity Raseina.
The company has taken over all legal responsibilities of approximately 4,500 companies registered previously with Department of Economic Development (DED).
Adel Kalantar, director, business support services, business support department of Raseina, told Gulf News that they have cut down on the duration of the process. "We are a one-stop-counter. If someone applies for a license in the morning, given all paper work is in order, we can issue the license on the same day."
The new entity's officials said they are working closely with DED to arrange a smooth transition. Speaking on the challenges faced, Kalantar said the clients are used to DED. "There is a slight resistance to change but they will realise that we are the same as DED."
He said that DMCA still operates a counter for application at DED, but ask clients to obtain their license from the new company's offices.
"There were about 20-25 applicants at DED when our operations started. Now that number has reduced to less than ten," Kalantar said, referring to the gradual transition the maritime industry is witnessing.
