Dubai: Min Bladi Al Emarat, a DSS 2010 Signature Event and a festivity showcasing the tradition and culture of the UAE, recently welcomed a delegation from the New Zealand consulate.
The delegation, headed by Anne Chappaz, Regional Director (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) of the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, was welcomed by Yousuf Mubarak, Chief Operations Officer of the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment in a tour of the event being staged at the Dubai Mall until July 26.
Welcomed by traditional Emirati music played by an Emirati band, the delegation was shown around the various zones of the event by Mubarak who also explained age-old handicraft-making such as weaving baskets and fishing nets. They also stopped at the oyster counter where visitors try their luck at finding pearls. This was followed by a stop at the henna designing zone and the falcon corner.
Impressed
"We are extremely impressed with the display of activities here at Min Bladi Al Emarat and this tour has given us an insight into Emirati heritage and customs. Events like Min Bladi Al Emarat provide a bridge between cultures and a better understanding of traditions also given the fact that Dubai is a global city hosting close to 200 nationalities," said Chappaz.
The last two days of Min Bladi Al Emarat feature contests in local food (Aseedha) on July 25 and Khabees on July 26.
