Dubai: Dubai’s government departments, private companies and individuals were honoured on Tuesday for their outstanding contributions and services to the community through the Dubai Quality Award, the Dubai Service Excellence Awards and the Dubai Human Development Award.

At a ceremony attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, The Department of Economic Development (DED) honoured UAE-based businesses for best practices, service and integration.

The Hilton Dubai, Jumeirah, Jebel Ali Free Zone and Al Fara’a General Contracting Company were the three organisations to receive the highest accolade, the Dubai Quality Award.

Sami Al Qamzi, DED Director General, said at the ceremony: “We did not rest by simply creating economic and job opportunities for the Emirati workforce. We continuously invested in their growth, development and career progression.”

He added that the aim of the awards was to “instill a culture of quality among our businesses” and also to set benchmarks for the rest of the business community to follow.

The DED also hosted the Business Excellence Awards, which rewarded companies in both the public and private sectors across a range of industries.

Dozens of UAE-based businesses were honoured for their efforts at the ceremony.
