Dubai honours leading retailers
Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum yesterday honoured 22 high performing outlets and brands of the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) 2007-08 at a ceremony organised by the Department of Econ-omic Development (DED) at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Dubai: Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum yesterday honoured 22 high performing outlets and brands of the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) 2007-08 at a ceremony organised by the Department of Econ-omic Development (DED) at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
The event was held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The winners, who achieved exceptional service performance levels, were adjudged on the basis of mystery shopper input. Recognition included best service performing outlets and brands, selected from over 1,000 DSES members
The 17 retail outlets selected for excellence in service included branches of Giordano Fashions, Chevignon, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Jumbo Electronics Co., Al Yousuf Electronics, Naturaliser, Home Centre, Tommy Hilfiger, two branches for Damas Jewellery, UAE Exchange, Optic Art, BinSina Pharmacy, Pizza Express, two branches of Commercial Bank of Dubai and DHL Worldwide Express.
The five winners of the Best Service Performance Brand included Damas (Special Business Category), Pure Gold Jewellers and Nine West (Large Business Category), Dune (Medium Business Category) and Tommy Hilfiger (Small Business Category).
"The DSES certification primarily targets Dubai-based businesses that have a high interface with customers and has been initiated with the specific intent of facilitating growth in the tourism, trade, finance and service sectors. The scheme aims to promote businesses that strive to increase the standards in customer service and boost customer confidence through ethical and best practices," said Khalid Al Kazim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development at DED.
The new members of the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme include Al Haseena Jewellers, Anne Klein, Barakat Optical, Birkenstock, BO Concept, Burberry, Calvin Klein Underwear, Clarks, Jashanmal Departmental Stores, Jeanswest, JM Weston, Jumeirah Retail, Mikura Pearls, Mirchi, Pedro, Shoe Studio, Venezia, Von Dutch, and Wall Street Exchange.
