British Foreign Secretary Miliband woos UAE to invest in UK
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband on Monday invited the UAE Sovereign Wealth Funds to invest in the UK, noting that the UAE capital is home to the world's largest sovereign wealth fund.
Abu Dhabi: British Foreign Secretary David Miliband on Monday invited the UAE Sovereign Wealth Funds to invest in the UK, noting that the UAE capital is home to the world's largest sovereign wealth fund.
"UK remains open to the Sovereign Wealth Funds from here," said Miliband, speaking at a conference on nuclear energy in the capital.
He said the sovereign wealth funds are valuable contributors to the investment environment.
In his speech at the conference, Miliband drew attention to Iran's nuclear programme and alleged that it is providing support to separatist groups such as the Taliban, Hezbollah and Hamas.
Miliband urged Iran to halt its uranium enrichment programme, saying Iran's involvement in uranium enrichment poses a threat to the peace and stability of the Middle East.
