Future prospects look bright as consumer confidence increases
Dubai: Gulf News readers expressed their optimism about the future of the UAE's economy, following the latest Nielsen study that showed consumer confidence has increased in the last six months.
Sofiane Boufas, an Algerian national residing in Dubai, has seen a significant rise in people's faith in the economy, as compared to the beginning of the year.
He said: "My friends who were stressed because they lost their jobs earlier this year have found new ones and have a more positive outlook on the market".
Boufas, an export officer, feels reassured about his job prospects and finances.He said: "Thankfully, my job is safe and I am more confident about my future".But although the future looks bright, the lingering effects of the global economic crisis can still be felt.
Shavakat Mamajonov, a Tajik residing in Dubai, has been searching for better career opportunities since the last two months, but could not find any.
He said: "I have been searching to see if there is anything better out there but I did not find anything. Many companies are offering low salaries".
Getting better
However, Mamajonov is optimistic and hopes that things will improve. He believes the worst is over.
Although Marby De Guzman, a junior architect residing in Sharjah, feels that markets are still struggling, she is optimistic that it will get better.She said: "I think that during the next 12 months, we will see confidence building again".
De Guzman, a Filipina, thinks the change may not occur overnight, but is certain that the situation will continue to improve.In the meantime, she said she is saving as much as she can.
