Online trading portal to increase Dubai trade's internet credentials
Chamber of Commerce and Industry and online business-to-business marketplace team up.
Dubai: An online trading portal was launched yesterday by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Tejari, the business to business online marketplace, which could be a haven for traders to source opportunities during the bleak time world economies are facing.
"This move is one more step in establishing Dubai as the gateway and information hub of global trade," said DCCI Director General Hamad Buamim at a press briefing launching the site.
"Dubaibizmatch.com will significantly enhance both import and export links between Dubai and the worldwide business community."
The DCCI partnered with Tejari to create the virtual platform which matches business opportunities in Dubai with the needs of the international business community.
"In the bleak situation seen in the last months this could be a haven for traders to come and find opportunities," said Tejari chief executive Omar Hijazi.
While most economies are slowing down dramatically, Hijazi said the Middle East continues to grow and could therefore be a source for those seeking new opportunities.
Buamim said the portal would be available to DCCI and Tejari members, which together amounts to around 300,000 companies and businesses, and would also be opened to international players seeking to make local contacts.
The services provided include business matchmaking, training, online showrooms, tender downloads, expert consulting and robust technology portals to support transactional business activity.
Variety of sectors
"The number of businesses operating in the emerging markets is growing exponentially, with a variety of different industries and sectors booming in both performance and size," Hijazi said.
"This necessitates a need for the latest trading platforms and procedures in a convenient and time efficient manner and this portal will further enhance Dubai's e-readiness levels by bringing the emirate closer to other emirates."
The portal facilitates Dubai in reaching its goal to become an internet-based trading environment.
