Abu Dhabi: A meeting of the Higher Committee for Consumer Protection, under the Ministry of Economy, has rejected a request from certain companies to increase prices of their products, a statement said.
The third meeting of the committee, chaired by Abdullah Al Saleh, under secretary at the ministry, also asked Oasis Water Company to minimise their price hike within ten per cent.
The consumers of Oasis water had complained during first week of August that price of five gallon water bottle was hiked by about 30 per cent.
The committee rejected the price hike of basmati rice, cement and fast food items. The committee asked co-operative societies in the country to import the basmati rice directly to control the prices.
Cement companies were asked to continue with the current prices till the end of this year.
