LuLu runs away with shopping basket
LuLu Centre in Dubai and Emirates General Market in Abu Dhabi emerged as this week's winners in the race for bargains, the latest Ministry of Economy price list shows.

Dubai: LuLu Centre in Dubai and Emirates General Market in Abu Dhabi emerged as this week's winners in the race for bargains, the latest Ministry of Economy price list shows.

LuLu swept away the competition by offering the best deals for 22 products, compared to Carrefour with 14 and Al Ittihad Cooperative Society with eight.
Shoppers can head down to Lulu to snatch up the cheapest Indian rice (Tilda), locally produced flour and Spanish dumpling mix, among other essentials.
Australian carrots
For the best deals at the fruit and vegetable counter, drop by Carrefour and fill your grocery bags with Turkish grape fruits, Australian carrots and Indian okra frish.
Shoppers can also swing by Al Ittihad Cooperative Society to load up some white Turkish dry beans, frozen Egyptian okra and whole French chicken.
In Abu Dhabi, the Emirates General Market beat its competitors with 21 best-priced products, compared to Carrefour, with nine, and Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society, with six.
The store offered the cheapest deals for flour, dumpling mix, yoghurt (Milco), almonds, cashew nuts, cocoa powder and whole chicken (Al Raw-adah), among others.
At least five items, which include natural salted potato chips, Lipton tea bags, corn oil (Afia), natural orange juice (Al Rawabie) and toothpaste (Signal) were similarly priced in all three supermarkets.
Abu Dhabi Cooperative displayed the best buys for carrots from Australia, okra frish from India and white dry beans from Turkey, while Carrefour had the best deals for rice (Tilda), Turkish grape fruit, Australian mutton meat, among other items.
The prices were collated on Monday and covered 45 grocery items. Products with only one price listed were excluded in the comparison.
