Dubai: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, directed a call to the Arab world to believe in the youth capabilities in enhancing a sustainable economy.
In his keynote speech at the official opening of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit - Entrepreneurial Ventures of Arabia (GES-EVA) in Dubai, he said: “All of us in the Arab world have to encourage the role of young people in the business sector, and we have to realise that this generation is capable of launching projects that would change economic and social spectra in the Arab world, based on state-of-the-art technologies and knowledge openness.”
However, he added that development can’t be achieved without believing in the youth capabilities as well as offering them full opportunities.
“We must support and promote advanced policies, stimulate the role of the youth and facilitate involvement in economic and investment affairs to achieve their dreams and aspirations,” Shaikh Abdullah said.
“I am fully confident that our experience in the UAE, and our successful record, confirms this trend, and enhances the prosperity and stability of the region.”
He also said the successful story of entrepreneurship in the UAE cannot be attributed to the public and private sector only, but to their dependence on the human capital.
“Since the very beginning, we availed the opportunities and well prepared ourselves by enticing individual and collective initiatives.”
“The UAE has built a society which believes in free economic policies based on transparency and governance, stimulating entrepreneurship and innovation as these values are the solid ground that helps build attractive business environments which allows us to create a knowledge-based economy, fair competition, and attractive environment that supports research, and seeks to apply them for the sake of enhancing businesses.”
Shaikh Abdullah added, “Enhancing entrepreneurship is a genuine value across the UAE.”
He said that the UAE has played a very important role in supporting and encouraging the youth, empowering women and implementing the latest technology, as well as developing transparent and efficient financial polices to enhance knowledge-based economy.
The UAE has emerged from a simple approach however, to be at the forefront of countries with competitive environments and with encouraging innovations, Shaikh Abdullah said.
