Abu Dhabi: Nuovo Pignone, a legal entity of GE Oil & Gas, has signed a long-term service agreement with Adgas, the Abu Dhabi-based regional pioneer in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production, to further strengthen plant productivity and maximise reliability and efficiency of its plant in Abu Dhabi, GE said in a statement on Sunday.
As part of the agreement, GE Oil & Gas will support the full maintenance, including supply of parts, repair & services and the provision of a resident team, for GE Frame 5 2D gas turbines as well as associated centrifugal compressors. GE Oil & Gas will also provide training for a number of Adgas engineers that will further build local capabilities.
Fahim Kazim, Chief Executive Officer of Ad Gas said: “We are committed to further enhance our capabilities to achieve operational excellence and to increase our productivity goals. The long-term service agreement with GE Oil & Gas is a step in the right direction and will contribute in our journey of excellence and also strengthen and fast track the development of UAE expertise.”
Adgas was established in 1973 and was the first LNG production company in the Middle East. Recently, on behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and as part of the national energy strategy, Adgas is also playing a vital role in the export of gas from Das Island to onshore (Habshan) via a submarine pipeline.
