Dubai Department of Economic Development stops dealing with paper licences

Dubai: The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has stopped dealing with paper licences and will only certify electronic transactions, it was announced on Saturday.

This coincides with the launch of DED's new design for business licences, an initiative which is part of DED's objective to strengthen online services.

Mohammad Shael, CEO, Business Registration and Licensing Division, DED, said: "The DED seeks to apply new services electronically to achieve greater effectiveness in performance and save the time and efforts of businessmen and investors. The requests for new licenses will from now on have to be sent via electronic mails.

"The licences could be scanned in colour or black and white, and anyone can check the veracity of the licence through DED's website www.dubaided.gov.ae and pressing ‘License Verification' button in the main page," added Shael.
