Abu Dhabi: The Department of Planning and Economy, Abu Dhabi, said on Monday that the department of statistics will conduct a series of social and economic surveys to give decision-makers a clear roadmap to plan for the future.
Butti Ahmad Mohammad Bin Butti Al Qubaisi, assistant under-secretary in the Department of Planning and Economy, said: "We are trying to build a statistics culture as we aim to be among the five best governments in the world."
He said that under the new data gathering system, the components in the basket of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be adjusted to reflect true prices.
"We will adjust the CPI through the new survey. The fourth quarter data this year will be based on the new basket," said Al Qubaisi.
He said the surveys will embrace all population groups in the emirate - citizens and non-citizens and will be done in co-operation with the Ministry of Economy and Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre to make possible a clear indication of their income and expenditure.
