New law adds gloss to paint market
Jotun, the company which supplied paint for the Burj Al Arab hotel, says recent changes to Dubai's property law have added gloss to the interior paint market.
Dubai: Jotun, the company which supplied paint for the Burj Al Arab hotel, says recent changes to Dubai's property law have added gloss to the interior paint market.
The Scandinavian company, which has operated in Dubai since 1975, says the fact that non-UAE nationals are entitled to freehold property means more people are engaging in interior decoration.
According to Ulf Skovli, Jotun's area sales manager for Dubai, the company will see a growing percentage of its overall sales come from interior paints rather than products used on exterior surfaces.
"The addition to Dubai's property law has increased home ownership.
This means more people will take pride in the appearance of their homes and will invest more into decorating and maintaining them," he said.
Skovli said Jotun's sales surged by 25 per cent between 2005 and 2006.
