Dubai: UAE-based building and construction company Mammut Group is set to invest heavily in a software program offering the creation and management of three dimensional building models.

Mammut Group will become the largest worldwide user of Tekla Structures, a Building Information Modelling (BIM) solution produced by Finish software company Tekla Corporation.

Tekla says its solution covers the entire structural design process, from conceptual design to detailing, fabrication and erection. The model can also produce analysis and design results, drawings and reports.

Working together

It means steel, concrete, and structural design professionals can work with the same model throughout every stage of a building project, the company claims.

Mammut will use the software in all its design and detailing processes of both pre-cast and pre engineered buildings (PEB) and says it has already seen an improved increase in throughput from engineering to production since initial implementation two months ago.

"With Tekla Structures we have open technology, ready for our PEB and pre-cast needs, which can be customised to adapt to the competitive demands of each project," said Behzad Daniel Ferdows, president and CEO of Mammut Group.

Risto Räty, executive vice-president of Tekla Corporation, said the deal greatly strengthens the company?s position as a major supplier of structural BIM solutions in the Middle East.

"They [Mammut Group] have been using products of our competitors for several years, therefore we are glad about the confidence that they are now showing towards us," he said.
