Al Jaber invests Dh8o9m in 720 Caterpillar machines

Al Jaber Group, a leading contracting, logistics and industrial group, has purchased 720 Caterpillar machines from Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al Bahar for more than Dh809 million ($220 million).

Abu Dhabi: Al Jaber Group, a leading contracting, logistics and industrial group, has purchased 720 Caterpillar machines from Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al Bahar for more than Dh809 million ($220 million).

The deal, the biggest purchase of Caterpillar machines in the history of the group, includes a wide range of earth-moving equipment that will support Al Jaber's operations and expansion plans.

The machines include tractors, hydraulic excavators, articulated dump trucks, wheel loaders and motor graders, which will supplement the equipment in Al Jaber Group's fleet.

Obaid Khalifa Al Jaber, chairman of the Al Jaber Group, said, "We have a long business relationship with Al Bahar and are pleased to add another milestone to these ties.

"Caterpillar machines are instrumental to our success and we have great confidence in the products coupled with after-sales service and support provided by Al Bahar, which are strategic to our achievements and successful execution of projects."

Immediate delivery

Issam Al Bahar, president of Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al Bahar, said. "The delivery of the machines will start immediately and will go on till the first quarter of 2009."

He added that the Al Jaber Group is considered the company's biggest business partners in the UAE and the region.

"Since January 2007 till date, the Al Jaber Group has purchased nearly 1,000 Caterpillar machines making it the biggest purchaser of Caterpillar products in the region," Mohammad Al Jaber, chief executive of Al Jaber said.

The agreement, which was signed by the chairman and CEO of Al Jaber and president of Al Bahar, includes after-sales service and support by Al Bahar.

Paolo Fellin, vice-president, EAME marketing division at Caterpillar, attended the signing ceremony at the Al Jaber Group's head office in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.
