Dubai: Al Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, a member of the Al Habtoor Leighton Group, has been awarded Dh2.4 billion in new work in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the company said in an e-mailed statement.
The company has secured the Dh1.9 billion contract for the construction of the new Jafza convention centre in Dubai for the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, and two hotels on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi worth a total Dh506 million for Aldar. The new contracts take the group's orderbook to over Dh12 billion.
"These new contracts are further evidence of Al Habtoor Engineering Enterprise's tremendous opportunities for growth in the Arabian Gulf region, and the UAE in particular," said David Savage, managing director of the Al Habtoor Leighton Group.
The Jafza convention centre complex will comprise twin towers for the convention centre, a food court, a 33-storey office complex and seven-storey hotel. The project for Aldar comprises the construction of two separate four-star hotels on adjacent plots on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
The first hotel comprises 400 rooms and 30 suites; the second 200 rooms and 10 suites. Also included is a ballroom, function rooms, food and beverage outlets and recreational facilities.
The construction will commence immediately and will be completed in September 2009. Last month, Al Habtoor Engineering Enterprises secured the Dh1 billion JW Marriott Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
