Waha Leasing purchases two aircraft from AerCap
Waha Leasing, a unit of Abu Dhabi-based Waha Capital said it had purchased two new aircraft - an Airbus 330-200 and an A320-200 - from the Netherlands-based AerCap Holdings, an integrated global aviation company, for an undisclosed sum.
Abu Dhabi: Waha Leasing, a unit of Abu Dhabi-based Waha Capital said it had purchased two new aircraft - an Airbus 330-200 and an A320-200 - from the Netherlands-based AerCap Holdings, an integrated global aviation company, for an undisclosed sum.
Waha Leasing added that the newly delivered aircraft have been placed on lease with Russian airline Aeroflot.
Three-way agreement
"We got a negotiated price from AerCap for the deal," Salem Rashid Al Noaimi, chief executive officer of Waha Leasing told Gulf News by telephone when asked about the purchase price for the two aircraft.
He declined to elaborate further on the price, citing confidentiality.
The price for an Airbus A330-200 aircraft typically ranges between $176.3 million to $185.5 million (Dh647-Dh680.7 million), whereas an aircraft in the A320-200 series carries a pricetag that ranges between $73.2 million and $80.6 million.
"It's a three-way agreement. AerCap ordered the aircraft from Airbus, we bought the aircraft from AerCap, took delivery from Airbus and placed it on long-term operating lease with Aeroflot, a highly credible operator in terms of credit," said Al Noaimi. "This is our first venture into the Russian market," he added.
Al Noaimi said with the two new aircraft, the fleet strength of Waha Leasing has gone up to 52 aircraft.
Waha Leasing's aircraft asset types include regional jets, narrow-body and wide-body commercial aircraft with an average age of about eight years. Its product offerings include operating and finance leases.
