'Technical issue' forces Emirates to cancel flight from New York
Emirates, which operates three daily flights to the Big Apple, cancelled a flight from New York due to a technical problem, according to a statement on Saturday.
Dubai: Emirates, which operates three daily flights to the Big Apple, cancelled a flight from New York due to a technical problem, according to a statement on Saturday.
"EK 202 from New York to Dubai on October 31 was cancelled due to a technical issue," an Emirates spokesperson said, adding that passengers are being accommodated on Emirates flights on Saturday and Sunday.
The airline, which received two A380 super jumbos, of the 55 on order, operates the heavyweight aircraft on the route that carries 489 passengers in three-class configuration.
"Emirates has organised hotel accommodation for those departing [on Sunday]. Passengers with connections in Dubai are being re-booked on the next available flight."
The spokesperson said: "The issue has been resolved and arrangements are being made to fly the aircraft back to Dubai [on Saturday] and operate it as a scheduled service [on Sunday]."
Emirates flies to three cities in the US - New York, Houston and Los Angeles. Its service to San Francisco starts in December.
