Dubai: An Etihad Airways flight from Paris to Abu Dhabi diverted overnight to Munich in Germany due to a “technical issue,” an airline spokesperson told Gulf News on Sunday.

Flight EY38 departed the French capital at around 10:00pm local time on Saturday before a “technical issue” forced the Airbus 340-600 to land in Munich, the spokesperson said by email. The flight, one of Etihad’s two daily Paris-Abu Dhabi services, was scheduled to land in Abu Dhabi on Sunday at 7:05am United Arab Emirates time.

“The flight landed safely in Germany and the necessary technical checks are being conducted. The airline will assist all guests with onward connecting flights and rebook them on the next available service from Abu Dhabi,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson, who apologised for any inconvenience caused by the diversion, did not state what the technical issue was.

"Etihad Airways apologises for any inconvenience caused and as always, the safety of our guests and crew remains our top priority,” the spokesperson said.
