RAK Airways will take off three times a week to Chittagong
RAK Airways announced yesterday that it will start operating three flights a week from the emirate to Chittagong, its second destination in Bangladesh, from Saturday.
Ras Al Khaimah: RAK Airways announced yesterday that it will start operating three flights a week from the emirate to Chittagong, its second destination in Bangladesh, from Saturday.
RAK Airways already operates thrice-a-week flights to Dhaka.
K Ravindran, chief operating officer of RAK Airways said the airline is all set to start flights to Kozhikode in Kerala, by April 2008. The airline will operate Boeing 757 aircraft, with a capacity of 190 seats, on the sector.
Ravindran said the Dhaka route operates at around 95 per cent capacity. He added the airline hopes to commence flights to Katmandu and add some destinations in the Gulf sector.
The airline has adopted a hub-and-spoke network strategy by attracting passengers from other countries to Ras Al Khaimah and then flying them to other destinations.
Nazimullah Chowdhury, Bangladeshi Ambassador to UAE, said the new flight will benefit the large number of Bangladeshi expatriates, most of whom hail from Chittagong."
RAK Airways last month signed an Dh1.65 billion deal with Boeing for the purchase of four new-generation 737-800NG aircraft.
