DUBAI: A Qatar Airways flight from Delhi arrived in Doha on Monday more than 13 hours late after a series of delays and a diversion to Muscat, according to the airline’s website.
Qatar Airways has not commented on the incident, however, its website states that flight QR579 was to depart Delhi at 3:30am on Monday and land in Doha at 4am local time. It departed at 8am and landed at 5:24pm, according to the website.
The flight, which would normally take 3 hours and 40 minutes, diverted to Muscat International Airport in Oman, landing there at 9:37 local time. It stayed there for nearly eight hours until it departed at 5:05pm and landed in Doha at 5:24pm – 13 hours and 24 minutes late, according to the website.
The passengers had to stay on board the aircraft for at least one hour as it sat on the tarmac in Muscat before they were permitted to disembark and enter the airport’s terminal.
It is unclear why the flight was delayed in Delhi and why it diverted to Muscat. Gulf News has reached out to Qatar Airways, but no comment was immediately available from the airline.
