Filipino wins $1m DDF promotion
Joel Tiongco, a Filipino citizen living in Nigeria, became the 53rd instant millionaire in the Dubai Duty Free's Millennium Millionaire Promotion during a special draw held at the Dubai Air Show grounds.
Tiongco's winning ticket number was drawn by George Horan, deputy managing director of Dubai Duty Free, and Salah Tahlak, director of corporate communications at Dubai Duty Free.
"I could not believe that I've won a million dollars! This is truly a great surprise and an early Christmas present for me and my family", sadi Tiongco, a planning engineer for a construction company.
He bought the ticked on August 9, while transiting through Dubai on his way to Nigeria. Currently, he is in the Philippines at present for a 3-month holiday.
A father of two boys aged 10 and 13, Tiongco is the first Filipino national to have won in the DDF.
