Air France and KLM Group leads the table with 129.94 billion RPKs followed by Lufthansa that recorded 82 billion in RPKs.
The data, based on the monthly international statistics compiled by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), excludes domestic traffic.
Emirates' position declines to 15th when the domestic traffic data is included. Then American Airlines tops the list with 169 billion RPKs, followed by Delta with 148.59 billion.
Emirates, with a fleet of 80 aircraft, carries more than 12.5 million passengers, more than half of the passenger throughput at the Dubai International Airport (DIA).
DIA, the busiest airport in the Middle East and North Africa, last year handled 21.7 million passengers and expects the figure to cross 25 million by the end of the current calendar year.
The airport last year was ranked 18th among global hub airports in terms of cargo handling, rated by the Airports Council International (ACI).
Emirates expects to carry about 60 million passengers by 2010 with a fleet of more than 200 aircraft on the fleet. It has made a fresh order for 42 Boeing 777s, costing $9.7 billion at list price.
This is part of the airline's $36.7 billion global orderbook that involves a total of 132 aircraft, including 45 A380 superjumbos.
