Dubai: Emirates flights from Dubai to Bangkok on Wednesday have been delayed until further notice due to the crisis in Thailand, the airline announced.
Several other flights have also been affected by the closure of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
Dubai to Bangkok flights - EK384 and EK418 - have been delayed until further notice.
On Tuesday, Emirates flight EK385 Hong Kong-Bangkok-Dubai returned to Hong Kong. It is scheduled to depart Hong Kong direct for Dubai at 15:00 local time on Wednesday, 26th November, 2008.
Emirates flight EK419 Sydney-Bangkok-Dubai was diverted on Tuesday to Kuala Lumpur and is scheduled to leave Kuala Lumpur for Dubai at 15:15 local time on Wednesday.
Wednesday's EK 419 from Sydney to Dubai via Bangkok will instead fly to Dubai doing a fuel stop in Singapore. It is scheduled to leave Sydney at 19:50 local time.
The airline said it is ensuring that passengers are well looked after and said all passengers directed to Bangkok will be rebooked on the first available flight when the airport re-opens. Hotel accommodation is being provided to affected passengers.
Future flights will be held until confirmation that the situation has improved and is stable is received.
Customers are advised to call their local Emirates office or come back to emirates.com for further updates.
Meanwhile, Taiwan's two major international airlines cancelled a total of seven flights to or from Bangkok as antigovernment protesters laid siege to the Thai capital's main airport.
China Airlines cancelled four flights, affecting 1,300 travellers, and Eva Airways cancelled three, spokesmen for the airlines said. Thursday's flight schedules depend on developments at the airport, they said.
Do you know anyone who has been affected by the cancellation of flights? How do you see the crisis in Thailand unfolding?
