Dubai: Emirates on Sunday said it has revised its fares for tickets issued in Middle East and GCC markets to over 20 cities, reflecting the recent softening of fuel prices.

The move comes six weeks after it raised its fares by 10 per cent, citing high oil price and rising demand. "In all, lower fares are being implemented on more than 30 flights to destinations in Europe, Far East and the Middle East," the airline said in an e-mailed statement.

"Ex-Dubai, travellers will see Emirates fares to Cairo, Beirut, Damascus, Amman reduce by four per cent."

Travellers in the Middle East will also see lower fares on Emirates flights to points in the GCC.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates' senior vice President Commercial Operations - Gulf, Middle East and Iran, said: "We are glad to be able to revise some of our fares with the recent lowering of fuel prices."

Do you think all airlines should reduce their airfare with the drop in oil prices? Or is it too soon to make such a move? Would you change your travel plans if airlines decided to reduce prices? Why? Tell us at letter2editor@gulfnews.com or fill in the form bellow to send your comments.

It?s so funny that a flight of 7.5 hrs to the UK can cost 1700/- and a flight of 3 hrs to India can cost more. So is it just fuel? Or a marketing gimmick?

Yes! All airlines should reduce their prices in proportion to the oil price. This will enable us to adjust our holiday more frequent than annually scheduled.

I still see this as a price increase: 10% increase and 4% reduction (see above article) So there is still 6% increase! Ticket prices have gone off the roof!

!What a GAME!! GREAT for Emirates playing mind games with passengers and travelers!! They raised the price by 10% and now reduced it by only 4%? Given that the oil prices are LOWER than before revising the prices for a hike!
