Dubai service makes up 30% of Silverjet's sales
Britain-based business-class airline Silverjet said its Dubai operations account for 30 per cent of total sales.
Dubai: Britain-based business-class airline Silverjet said its Dubai operations account for 30 per cent of total sales.
The company began flights between Dubai and London on November 18 and has achieved 50 per cent load factor, or the ratio of seats filled, chief executive officer Lawrence Hunt told Gulf News.
"Thirty per cent of our revenues are from the Dubai service," he said.
Silverjet has one daily flight from Dubai to London and targets corporate travellers. It also offers a twice-daily service between London and New York.
Hunt said the Dubai route has performed ahead of expectations for the one-year-old carrier. The airline was attracted to Dubai because of huge growth in premier air travel in the Gulf, where high oil prices are driving growth across a range of sectors. "Our Dubai route is already making an impact on the direction of the company and will play an integral part of our future plans," he said.
Regional hub
Silverjet is also looking at possibilities of making Dubai its hub for expanding within the region but there is no immediate plan to fly to another Gulf city.
The company will take delivery of two Boeing 676 aircraft in March and deploy them on new routes.
It is looking at possible destinations in the US, South Africa and East Asia.
