Delta increases Dubai-Atlanta frequency

Dubai: An 80 per cent increase in passengers using Delta Air Line's Dubai-Atlanta flight has prompted the airline to increase frequency.

Effective immediately, Delta's non-stop Dubai-Atlanta flight will operate daily and from November 8, the airline will have four weekly non-stop flights from Kuwait City to Atlanta.

"In the past 12 months we have enjoyed load factors on the Dubai to Atlanta service in the mid to high 80 per cent range. We are very pleased with the success of this flight and are confident we can sustain its performance with a daily service," said Delta's Middle East commercial manager, Manoj Kuriakose.

The flight began in 2007 as a five times weekly service and was increased to six times.

Destinations that have proven popular with passengers travelling from Dubai include Houston, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando and Tampa, and those destinations are also expected to be popular with the Kuwait City passengers

A Boeing 777-200ER aircraft will serve the Dubai and Kuwait flights, seating up to 268 passengers.

The flight features Arabic-speaking flight attendants, in-flight movies with Arabic subtitles and Halal meal options.

United Airlines' also launched a new Dubai service, which will offer Middle Eastern travellers access to more than 80 destinations across the United States.

The service, to begin on October 27, will fly non-stop to Washington Dulles, one of United's five US. hubs.

From Washington Dulles, passengers can fly on to over 80 destinations across the US, Canada and the Caribbean, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami and New York.

"This new route further strengthens our presence in the Middle East and allows us to take advantage of the growing commerce between the region and the United States," said Marcel Fuchs, United's managing director, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
