Airlines offer bargain fares as annual low season starts
Airlines are reducing fares on flights out of the UAE as the aviation sector faces the traditional low season that is expected to continue until the end of Ramadan.
Dubai: Airlines are reducing fares on flights out of the UAE as the aviation sector faces the traditional low season that is expected to continue until the end of Ramadan.
British Airways has launched its late summer seat sale for travel from the UAE in World Traveller (economy) with prices starting at just Dh1,500 for flights to the UK.
"Customers flying from Abu Dhabi can start packing for just Dh1,500, while World Traveller fares from Dubai to London begin at Dh2,100. And for just a few dirhams more, North America is on sale for just Dh2,100 when flying from Abu Dhabi (Dh2,400 from Dubai)," the airline said in a statement.
School holidays
The offer runs from August 30 until September 7, and is valid for travel until next February 28, making it easy for families planning to travel during the school holidays. Prices exclude taxes, charges and service fees.
Paul Starrs, British Airways commercial manager for the Middle East and Pakistan, said: "In particular, parents with young children will appreciate these new low fares, since British Airways is the leader in making family travel easy.
"No one knows better than British Airways the additional stress that can accompany travelling with youngsters. So for us, providing a really competitive fare is only one part of the benefit of flying World Traveller.
"For example, Skyflyers is a dedicated online service for family travel offering a range of benefits both on the ground and in the air. Last year more than 1.5 million children and 70,000 babies travelled with their families across the British Airways network," said Starrs.
Summer rush
Royal Brunei, the flag carrier of the South-East Asian country also announced a fare of Dh1,620 to London. Other carriers are also expected to follow suit as air traffic will remain low for a while, following the summer rush.
However, traffic will remain moderate until Ramadan begins.
British Airways is also offering travellers 15 per cent off British Airways Holiday products on its website, complementing the special fares announced yesterday.
Starrs said: "Savvy travellers know that our best fares are online, and those wanting the best value prices will always check there first.
"Moreover, there's no easier way to take advantage of this special offer."
Customers can book and pay online and receive an e-ticket instantly. They can also purchase hotels and car hires through the website.
