Carrier's passenger traffic up 7.2% in quarter
Dubai: Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, said it continues to enjoy steady growth in passenger traffic between Sharjah and Beirut.
In the first quarter of this year the carrier served more than 28,050 passengers on this route, an increase of 7.2 per cent compared to 26,160 passengers in the same period last year.
In 2009, more than 115,675 passengers travelled with Air Arabia between its primary hub in Sharjah and Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut. During the same period, the airline reported 88 per cent on-time performance on service between these two destinations, which it serves with 10 flights per week.
Air Arabia's fleet consists of brand new Airbus A320 aircraft offering its passengers the best economy configuration in the market, as well as all inclusive free baggage allowance.
"Given the large Leban-ese expatriate population in the UAE and the popularity of Lebanon as a holiday destination, we are confident that we will continue to experience growth in service between Sharjah and Beirut," said A.K. Nizar, head of the Commercial Department.
