Dubai: Elite Emirati pilots and skydivers lit up the skies above Dibba Al Hisn on Thursday with a breathtaking display of the colours of the UAE flag, creating images and symbols to mark the country’s 45th National Day.

Residents and visitors of all ages congregated near the city’s Cultural Centre where they held a massive march, accompanied by folk bands and a motorcycle cavalcade. The parade finished at the Water Canal to celebrate national milestones and accomplishments.

The crowds gathered to watch a squadron of aeroplanes led by expert Emirati pilots who conducted stunning aerobatics, followed by a series of local parachutists who demonstrated their years of experience and skills, ready to protect and safeguard their country at all times in all circumstances.

On Friday, the Dibba Al Hisn Fishermen Cooperative Society organised a maritime parade from the city’s port, while the Water Canal saw Al Shash Boat Race organised by the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club. The parade was followed by cultural and heritage — related activities in the Flagpole area, organised by the Department of Culture and Information.
