Sharjah: A fire erupted at a residential building on Al Wahda Road in Sharjah on Tuesday.
Dozens of families were evacuated from the five-storey building when the fire broke out at 9.37pm.
The blaze was brought under control by civil defence.
Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, said firefighters from headquarters, Samnan and Al Mina stations joined in the effort.
No injuries have been reported so far, he said. The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Police closed the road while the civil defence team worked.
Civil defence handed control of the site to Sharjah Police fire experts for further investigation.
