A collection of artworks depicting the subtlety of flowers by Mona Naqsh has been opened

Dubai: A collection of artworks depicting the subtlety of flowers by renowned Pakistani painter Mona Naqsh has been opened to the public at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Atrium.
Titled When Flowers Talk, the five-day exhibition features 30 new paintings from Naqsh's studio. The collection showcases Naqsh's artworks using brush, pencil, pen and ink, creating floral artworks in classical settings.
"I have been painting flowers for the past 25 years. People talk about monotony. Monotony shows the complexity of your subject. If you are switching from one subject to another, you cannot go into the in-depth detail of your subject," Naqsh told Gulf News.
Conceived by Poetic Strokes, When Flowers Talk is the first solo exhibition of a Pakistani artist during Art Dubai. Naqsh, through the exhibition, has taken the opportunity to share the secret behind her works to new generation artists in Dubai.
"It's really hard to establish a contact between the viewer and your painting unless and until you are focused. That's my message to the upcoming generations — be focused," Naqsh said.
Encouraging compatriots
Pakistani Consul General to the UAE Tarek Iqbal Somoro lauded Naqsh for encouraging other Pakistani artists to showcase their works in Dubai.
"It's encouraging for them [Pakistani artists] as well. We always encourage our people who are talented in any field to come forward and display their talent. So, this is a good start and I hope that other artists, especially women, would also take heed of this exhibition and come forward. We are ready to support them," Somoro told Gulf News.
At the opening night on Saturday, guest of honour Mariam Behnam, former chairperson of Dubai International Women's Club, congratulated Naqsh for her first solo exhibition in Dubai. "I am impressed with the way she blended the [colours in her paintings]. It is very remarkable," Behnam said.
Without any official training in painting, Naqsh learned the art through her father Jameel Naqsh, who is considered one of the greatest living Pakistani modern master artists. Naqsh first showcased her works in 1987, which was followed by exhibitions in London and the US.
