Dubbed as “magnificent, musical brilliance” by former Billboard magazine writer Michael Capozzoli Jr, Therése Neaimé started off on a successful note on US radio.
Now considered one of Sweden’s musical celebrities, Neaimé, who has spent many years in the UAE perfecting her music, is back in town to promote her latest single, All I Think About Is You (you can hear it on her website at neaime.net).
Her single The Future became a radio hit and climbed to number 13 on the US Top 40 Radio Chart.
Neaimé will perform her highly-anticipated new single live for the first time at the What’s On Awards in Dubai on Sunday.
Describe your music in one sentence?
Contemporary pop with R&B and Middle Eastern flavour and lyrics that tell a story.
What do you consider your “big break”?
My big break as a songwriter was probably when I was signed as one of five songwriters in top international producer Jörgen Elofsson’s team (he’s written for the likes of Britney Spears, Westlife and Kelly Clarkson). Soon after that, my first song How Could You Leave Me was featured on the soundtrack of the Swedish movie Language Of Love.
Who are the biggest names you’ve worked with?
I must say Jörgen Elofsson, again. And definitely the legendary pop band Simply Red. Opening for them in Europe last year at arenas with an audience of 8,000-10,000 people each time was just an amazing experience.
Filming with Ben Affleck, having a smaller role in various episodes of his TV-series Push, Nevada in Hollywood was also great fun. He’s actually a very down to earth guy and I was amazed how he always seemed to care about everybody on the set.
Why should people listen to your album?
Because it’s something real and unique. My lyrics reflect my everyday life, the people that I meet and my loved ones. It’s music that combines various influences throughout my musical career and from my time living in Sweden, LA and the Middle East.
Who is the most important person in your life and why?
If I have to mention one, it has to be my nine-month-old son, who has of course given my life yet another dimension. He’s an angel and my love for him inspires me every day.
Tell us one thing nobody knows about you?
When I was a kid, I also wanted to be a top track-and-field star. As a child I trained five to six days a week, participating in various competitions, and at one time I was actually number five in Sweden in the long jump.
This is your best guide to music in the Emirates. From interviews with local talents to news on major overseas stars coming to town, plus reviews, events and your introduction to the hottest new tracks, if it's in music, it will be in Soundbites.
