Celebrate St Paddy’s Day this year with none other than Sir Bob Geldof.
The legendary singer-songwriter will be coming to Irish Village on March 14 once again this year, a highlight of the venue’s annual three-day St Patrick’s festival this time of year. Geldof, a UAE regular, will perform a mix of his solo work and his famed songs with Boomtown Rats.
“Transguard Group, the organisers of the show, have been bringing me to Dubai for the St Patrick’s Day celebrations for many years now, I think this is my eighth visit,” Geldof said in a press release.
“It’s a real vibrant place I always look forward to visiting, the speed at which the city changes is extraordinary. However, one thing that never changes is the warmth of the welcome at the Irish Village, the Irish here really know how to have good craic.”
Not only is Geldof ready to put on a good show, but he’s also happy to continue building on his advocacy for corporate social responsibility (CSR) by helping the organisers with their policies.
“Bob always takes a keen interest in CSR initiatives including ours. He really is a great inspiration to many of our employees and we certainly put into practice any advice he offers to us,” said Mark Povey, communications director at Transguard Group.
Povey added that Geldof, who is also known for his humanitarian efforts, took a particular interest in “Christel House, a school for underprivileged children in Bengaluru, India, that we support, and our sustainability efforts.”
Early bird tickets are available for Dh75, while tickets at the door are Dh100. Tickets can be bought at The Irish Village. Doors open 7pm, show begins at 9pm.
