Check my brain..... Alice in chains
I never really took Alice in Chains seriously after the death of its original vocalist Layne Staley in 2002. That's usually the case when a band becomes a habit, any change is difficult to accept (just as Queen never felt the same after Freddie Mercury's death). My apprehension towards their new album Black Gives Way to Blue with new singer William DuVall waned as I listened to the single Check My Brain. It's a beautiful track from DuVall and guitarist Jerry Cantrell and the sound takes you back to the Chains of yore. It drove me to check the other songs in the album – Last of My Kind rocks and Acid Bubble grows on you. Cantrell has been openly emphasising the fact that this album will not harm Chains' legacy and undoubtedly it stands on its own. Alice in Chains is back and it's a great feeling!

Shaka Rock.... Jet
Think rock 'n' roll with an attitude and that's Jet for you. The guys can be credited with taking rock to a new level – harmonising classic rock with modern sound. Their new album Shaka Rock puts forth a much more mature sound. K.I.A. (Killed in Action) is a track worth listening to as it is typically Jet – old school with a modern twist. She's a Genius catches your attention for the very pleasant guitar riffs. This is certainly an album to crank in your car!

2 the top from the bottom....... Coolio
We're not disputing that it’s perhaps a problem of plenty. With so many good gangsta rap albums coming out, this one doesn't quite sound Coolio. But the good thing with rap music is that the beat makes you move no matter what. We had a tough time selecting the best track... and the honour goes to the disco-inspired Lady Vs Beat Nouveau. The lyrics! Let's not go there!

One love..... David Guetta
Those who like dance, electro, R&B and Hip Hop, David Guetta is your man. One Love gives you the whole Guetta experience. Now we know why the celebrated DJ manages to draw large crowds. The album has a great collection of high-energy dance numbers such as Sexy B... featuring Akon and the simply haunting track It’s the Way You Love Me with Kelly Rowland. An exhilarating album – makes you feel you can climb a mountain!
